 'JAMAICAN CURRY DAY'.

 

4 years ago our theme was 'Countries Around the World'. On the last day of the theme the teachers and the students made Jamaican curry together. Now, every year we have parents asking which day is the Jamaican curry day because the kids loved it and want to make sure they are here during that week. To be honest, it's not the best Jamaican curry,     but the kids always enjoy it and ask for more because they made it together.

Summer School Theme 2024 - Exploring different areas

​

​This summer we will use many fun hands on activities to explore the world of art, ecology and engineering. 

​

• Week 1 - ​Creative Artists

  • Students will learn about different styles of art and famous artists in history and their art styles. Students will be encouraged to explore and express their creativity with different daily projects that will focus on how to draw, painting styles, abstract art and creating mosaics. We will also visit the nearby Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (東京都現代美術館). In the afternoons, there will be a fun week-long embroidery project. This is a great relaxing and entertaining activity for students after all the energetic activities earlier in the day. Students can spend time talking and laughing with their friends and teachers while crocheting. The project will be simple, so even small children can do it with very little help. Each day, students will learn about the different steps in creating a crochet project and they will design and create their own crochet project.

• Week 2 - Mad Scientists

  • ​Week 2 is our mixed sciences week. Students will get a chance to explore different areas of science.  A little ecology, a little chemistry and a little physics. As usual, our science week includes lots of fun hands-on crafts, projects and experiments.

• Week 3 - Builders and Engineers

  • Students will learn about different building and engineering methods. Children love building things and this is a wonderful opportunity to have fun with group and individual projects. We will have fun using wooden blocks and other materials to create giant towers and other buildings, make amazing bridges, design a playground, and use our engineering skills to create a ball run, and other games.
